The Administrative Professional Diploma program offers a well-rounded curriculum of the Administrative Professional Certificate in the 1st year and the Bookkeeping Certificate in the 2nd year to prepare students for immediate employment in a constantly changing business environment. Graduates will obtain the knowledge and skills required to gain employment in administrative support positions. The last component of the program is a three-week practicum placement aimed at providing on-the-job training, furthering graduates' employment opportunities, or a capstone project where students will conduct research on a business topic.
Working Together
CIOT and Portage College are excited to work together to deliver Portage College Continuing Education programs in Calgary. The program consists of non-credit Portage College Continuing Education courses. Upon successful program completion students will be eligible to apply for Post-Graduation Work Permit.
*The intention of this non-credit Continuing Education programming is to allow graduates to be eligible to apply for their Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP). The intention is not to have this programming transfer credit to other post-secondary institutions. However, there may be opportunities to apply for prior learning assessment and recognition (PLAR) with other post-secondary institutions.
Employment opportunities are not limited to private businesses. The Alberta government, colleges, municipalities, settlement and band offices have all hired Administrative Professional graduates. Possible job opportunities are:
- Administrative assistant
